Tettnang hops parade
The Tettnang Hops Sauparade took place in 2006 in the Baden-Württemberg city of Tettnang in the Lake Constance district in Germany .
In cooperation of the city with the Tettnang Hop Growers Association and the Hop Museum for the fifth Tettnang hops Customized busy hiking over ninety-life, Hopfensäue the Tettnang hops path , later also streets and squares in the city. This is a reminder of the custom at the time of manual harvesting up to around 50 years ago, when the " hop sow " was selected and celebrated at the end of the harvest at the hop feast in every farm: the honorary title " hop sow " was awarded to the hops broiler who picked the last hop vines, combined with (pig) congratulations, gifts and sometimes with a bit of rough jokes at their expense.
This animal parade adapts an idea that has been successful in other cities since 1998, originally initiated by the Zurich cow culture .
Hop sows
The roughly thirty kilograms, made of weather-resistant glass fiber reinforced plastic , were used to create colorful sculptures, some of which were painted by local artists and students. They brought color and fun to the Tettnang cityscape, were advertising for the business world and in the end brought a financial grant for the charitable project "Rosario Oeste" in Brazil .
