Season 10
On February 4, 2019, it was announced that AMC was extending the series for a tenth season, which has aired in the United States since October 6, 2019 and in Germany since October 7, 2019. Due to the closure of the dubbing studio in times of the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany , the 14th and 15th episodes of the season were initially only broadcast in the original sound or with subtitles . The German-language dubbed version of episodes 14 and 15 was submitted on June 3, 2020.
On March 24, 2020, the production company announced that the post-production of the final episode could not be carried out as planned due to the coronavirus pandemic and that the season will temporarily end with the 15th episode. The final episode of season 10 was due to air at a later date.
On July 24, 2020, AMC announced that it would broadcast the 16th episode on October 4, 2020. In addition, the tenth season will receive six more episodes that will be broadcast in early 2021. The number of episodes in season 10 increases to 22.

Web series
A six-part web series was produced for the second season and was posted online on October 3, 2011 on the AMC website. The web series is called The Walking Dead: Torn Apart and tells the story of Hanna, the so-called "Bicycle Girl", in six webisodes. The "Bicycle Girl" is the walker girl who was redeemed by Rick in the first episode of the first season near the hospital. The script for the webisodes was written by John Esposito and directed by Greg Nicotero .
A four-part web series was also filmed for the third season, entitled The Walking Dead: Cold Storage . It tells the story of Chase, a young man who takes shelter in a large warehouse and meets other survivors there. Including the caretaker BJ, who apparently has something to hide. Chase also finds Rick's things and a photo of Rick's family in a storage room. The webisodes have been available online on the AMC website since October 1, 2012. Greg Nicotero again directed and John Esposito wrote the script again. Josh Stewart and Daniel Roebuck play the leading roles .
For the fourth season, the 3-part web series The Walking Dead: The Oath was made available on amctv.com on October 1, 2013. In terms of time, the web episodes are linked to the first season. This tells the story of Karina and Paul, who, after their camp was overrun, flee to the hospital where the wounded Rick is lying. The roles were cast by Ashley Bell , Wyatt Russell and Ellen Greene . As with the other web episodes, Greg Nicotero directed and was responsible for the story.
