The strait between Cape Nosong and Pulau Tiga is Tiga Channel ( Tiga Channel called) and is the main shipping route is for access to the Kimanis Bay. The island is surrounded with the exception of the peak in the southeast densely forested and numerous reefs.
Emergence
The creation of Pulau Tiga was triggered by the great earthquake on the Philippine island of Mindanao on September 21, 1897. The earthquake triggered a volcanic eruption off the coast of Sabah, which initially formed a 20 m wide island. Over the next forty years, more volcanic eruptions and eruptions of two nearby mud volcanoes followed, which together made Pulau Tiga grow to its present size. The last eruption occurred in 1941.

Pulau Tiga, together with the Pulau Kalampunian Besar, Pulau Kalampunian Thus and the surrounding marine area, form the 158 square kilometer Pulau Tiga National Park . Listed as a forest reserve since 1933, the islands were designated as a national park in 1978.
