The best four teams after the end of the regular season took part in the play-off rounds to determine the German champions. Borussia Düsseldorf prevailed against TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen in two final games, becoming German champions for the 23rd time and at the same time securing the triple of the German championship, cup and Champions League victory. The ninth and tenth placed teams, TTC indeland Jülich and TTC Frickenhausen , relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga and were replaced by TTC Ruhrstadt Herne and TSV Graefelfing . For Frickenhausen it had looked good at the winter break with 5 wins out of 9 games, but then the club announced its player Tan Ruiwu , who wanted to play for a Saudi Arabian club at the same time, which almost led to the loss of all points; in the remaining nine games without Tan Ruiwu succeeded no more victory, and Frickenhausen was relegated.

FC Tegernheim (champions 2. BL South) renounced promotion to the 1st Bundesliga .
