The awarding of the Tony Award in 2015 ( 69th Annual Tony Awards ) took place on 7. June 2015 in the Radio City Music Hall in New York City and was hosted live from the transmitter CBS transmitted. The awards went to plays and musicals from the 2014/15 season that opened on Broadway until April 23, 2015. The nominations were announced on April 28, 2015. The ceremony was moderated by Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming . The categories Best Sound Design and Best Sound Design (Musical) , introduced in 2008, were no longer awarded because they were abolished in the course of rule changes after the award ceremony in 2014 . However, exceptional achievements in this area can still be honored as part of the Special Tony Award .
