The presentation of the Tony Award 2012 ( English 66th Annual Tony Awards ) took place on June 10, 2012 at the Beacon Theater in New York City . The awards went to plays and musicals from 2011/12 that were produced on Broadway up to April 27th. The nominations were announced on May 1st. The broadcaster CBS broadcast the event and Neil Patrick Harris acted as host for the third time. The audience ratings of 6.01 million viewers were well below those of the 2011 event (6.95 million).
