Torsten guy
Torsten Kerl (born October 21, 1967 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German opera and concert singer . The tenor is one of the most sought-after singers in his field and gained fame with the star role of Paul in the opera “ Die tote Stadt ” by Erich Wolfgang Korngold .
Career
His musical career began Torsten Kerl as orchestra - and solo - oboist . This was followed by training as a singer, after which Kerl performed in important opera houses and concert halls, such as Vienna , New York and Milan . He was also on stage at major festivals such as the Bayreuth Festival and the Salzburg Festival .
The German subject is a special repertoire focus of this tenor. He is one of the few tenors in the world who, in addition to numerous other roles in his genre, regularly interprets almost all of the major Wagner roles. For example, he sang the roles of Siegmund , Erik , Parsifal and Lohengrin at the Edinburgh Festival , Stolzing in Japan in 2007 , Tristan in Glyndebourne in summer 2009 , Rienzi at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in autumn 2009 and Siegfried at the Opéra Bastille in 2011 in Paris .
Torsten Kerl has been married to mezzo-soprano Elena Batoukova-Kerl since August 8, 1997 , with whom he has performed several times. The Kerl couple live in Essen with their daughter Lisa .
