The moth Witzleshofen is an Outbound medieval motte (Motte) in Witzleshofen in Gefrees in the district of Bayreuth in Upper Franconia .

The Burgstall is located on the Rieglersbach in the center of Witzleshofen, Witzleshofen district, at 495 m above sea level. NN .
description
The moth has been destroyed by today's building. A short piece of the core mound can be seen in the south of the complex as an earth wall. A core mound with a diameter of about 20 meters and a slightly oval ring trench with a diameter of about 50 meters can be reconstructed using floor plans and initial photographs .
history
There is no documentary evidence of this castle. The village of Witzleshofen first appeared in a document in 1363. It was not until 1509 that a “dwelling and farmstead” was mentioned, as a fief in the hands of the Lords of Wallenrod zu Streitau , belonging to the “Alte Kemnat” manor. In 1601, a "Witzleshofen Castle" was mentioned in the church records of Streitau.
