geography

location

The state-approved resort of Dachsberg is located in the Hotzenwald in the southern Black Forest on the west side of the Alb Valley at an altitude of 543 to 1105 meters. The Dachsberg landscape is characterized by plateaus of various sizes that slope down to the south in terraces. Most of the districts are on such plateaus. history

The settlement of today's municipality began in the 11th century partly from the monastery of St. Blasien , partly from secular lords such as the Lords of Tiefenstein. The many small towns and hamlets mostly emerged from individual farms. For centuries, the northern part of today's community, especially the Urberg district, belonged to the covenant and ban of St. Blasien ; the southern part formed the union of Wolpadingen in the county of Hauenstein . The border ran through the village of Wittenschwand. Both areas were part of Upper Austria . In 1806 they came to the newly created Grand Duchy of Baden .

Today's community Dachsberg (southern Black Forest) was formed on January 1, 1971 by the union of the communities Urberg, Wilfingen, Wittenschwand and Wolpadingen.

Sports

economy

The agriculture does not matter much more, in 2007 there were eight commercial farms and 66 part-time farmers. The majority of workers earn their living outside the community. Several craft businesses (carpenters, electricians, bricklayers, carpenters, plumbing technology, car master craftsmen, metalworking, etc.) and service providers (tax consultants, lawyers, architects, planning office for building systems technology, haulage contractors, etc.) provide around 70 jobs in the community. There is also tourism , which in the broadest sense, including gastronomy, offers around 30 jobs. Dachsberg has around 45,000 overnight stays annually, 28,000 of which are of tourist origin. There are around 500 guest beds available. 17,000 overnight stays are due to long-term campers on the campsite, second homes, the youth campground, company or church recreation and seminar houses as well as family visitors. Since January 1, 2012, Dachsberg has been one of the four members of the FERIEN SÜDSCHWARZWALD tourism cooperation for the health resorts of Höchenschwand, Dachsberg, Weilheim and Ibach. It also belongs to the tourism cooperation FERIENWELT SÜDSCHWARZWALD, which was founded on July 1, 2012 and consists of the 14 towns of Albbruck, Bad Säckingen, Bernau, Dachsberg, Görwihl, Herrischried, Höchenschwand, Ibach, Laufenburg, Murg, Rickenbach, Todtmoos, Wehr and Weilheim.

Events

The International Dachsberg Turn Festival has been held annually since 1953 , a mountain sports festival on the Dachsberg which attracts athletes from Germany and neighboring countries. The “Kohlenmeilerfest” has been taking place every year on the forest sports ground in Wolpadingen since 1996. Traditional charcoal burners build an original Black Forest round pile, put it in embers and let it char in a controlled manner. The coal harvest takes place at a later point in time after it has cooled down.
