Game features

Exhibition mode

The Exihibition mode is the normal mode in which the player can fight outside of a story mode or universe mode. The player has a variety of match types available, which he can improve with specially created rules, e.g. B. If count anywhere, No DQ u. a.

Attitude-era mode

This year the Road-to-WrestleMania mode will be replaced by the Attitude-era mode. In this mode you have the opportunity to experience the historic moments as eight of the WWE Superstars, while you can play 65 matches, which are divided into the chapters Rise of DX, Austin 3:16, The Brothers of Destruction, The Great One, Mankind and WrestleMania XV, which you play with WWE Superstars The Rock , Steve Austin , Mick Foley , D-Generation X , Kane , Undertaker and Bret Hart . With the help of bonus tasks, the player can replay every match as true to the original as possible. In addition, completed main and bonus tasks unlock further matches as well as available superstars, functions and arenas throughout the game.

World mode

In the world mode (in the original WWE Universe mode) the player will find a similar game mode as in the predecessor. The player can determine friendships and rivalries between wrestlers and change the entire world at will. The incentive for this mode are randomly generated storylines, all of which were written by the well-known wrestling official Paul Heyman . The player can witness the course of this storyline in cutscenes. With his actions he can influence further events, which means that the mode remains dynamic.

Creation mode

Superstars and Divas

Traditionally, the player has the opportunity to create 50 additional superstars or divas. For this purpose, certain items of clothing are made available to him in order to design the superstar as he likes. Physical characteristics such as height, weight or body structure as well as the curriculum vitae with ring name, place of origin and attitude can easily be set up to a certain extent. As a further function, the player has the option of recoloring the ring gear of the pre-set wrestlers or those provided as DLC by THQ. However, adding other clothes to the superstars is not an option.

Indent

The player can change all entries, both from preset and created wrestlers as well as tag teams and stables. Here he can use simple settings that only change the elements available such as movements or an extended setting, whereby he can redesign the entry of the superstar in four different blocks (stage, ramp, ring-in and ring). In addition, the player can set effects such as TV special effects (e.g. playing the TitanTron video in full screen mode or the coloring in a certain color and color group) and fireworks, which he can trigger at will. However, only two fireworks can be set per move.

Furthermore there is the possibility to create an entry video for created wrestlers. The player specifies the text in any color and a logo. The video themes are preset and tailored to specific gimmicks (e.g. king, bodybuilder or patriots from different countries such as the USA, Canada , Great Britain , Japan or the People's Republic of China ).

Movesets

The player has the ability to change the movesets of all wrestlers and divas in the game as they wish. Every moveset of the wrestlers is available in the game, there are also movesets from certain wrestlers who previously performed at WWE, e.g. B. Kurt Angle , Hulk Hogan or Jeff Hardy . Should the player download a DLC wrestler, their moveset will be added.

Special moves

The player can create a move and assign a wrestler to it in the moveset creation. He has the option of selecting a handle move from the front, a move in the corner or an action from the top rope. The player can choose from a variety of starting positions to further work on the move.

scenario

The player can create his own storylines. He can access certain situations that can happen before, during or after the match. In addition, backstage segments can be created that tell the storyline. The player has the opportunity to make various decisions that make the scenario more dynamic. He has to determine the location, the actors and the victory conditions in a match for each scenario. The player also writes the texts to simulate a conversation. Swear words and swear words are automatically censored by the game.

arena

The player can create 50 own arenas in which the matches take place later. THQ and Yukes have expanded this creation option. If you could only change the ring and the ring area in the previous version, here the player can also design the stage and the ramp to the ring as he likes. All arenas included with this game are used as a template. In addition, two specially created sets were added.

logo

The player can create 20 logos in bitmap mode. These logos can be used for t-shirts, arenas and tattoos. There are two canvases in sizes of 128 × 128 or 256 × 256 pixels. The player must always use logos of the same size for a superstar or an arena.

WWE highlights

The player can cut his own highlight video. The video excerpts required for this must be recorded in matches (this can be recognized during the match by the WWE Live symbol, which can be seen at the bottom left of the screen). There are several effects and overlays available. The player has the option to upload their video directly to YouTube .

Online mode and community area

The game has an online mode. Here, players can compete against each other worldwide, either in ranked matches, where the opponents are determined randomly, or in the non-ranked area, where you can also invite each other to matches. Rank 15 is the highest online rank that a player can achieve, which requires over 1.5 million points. Points are only awarded to one ranked match after each match. The number of points achieved is determined by certain variables, e.g. B. Victory or defeat, tension from nearfalls or spectacular actions or the player's penalty level. THQ is criticized because of the online mode, as the server is often very unstable and penalty points despite an unintentional disconnection, e.g. B. due to a server failure. The player can view his statistics in the point of the same name in the online mode menu.

In the community area, players have the opportunity to upload their created items such as superstars, arenas, screenshots, logos, finishing moves or scenarios and have them rated by others. At the same time, creations from other players around the world can also be downloaded. The player can choose whether he or she agrees to further processing and a new upload by other users.

Roster

The NPCs Ricardo Rodríguez and Paul Bearer are also available as managers .
