history

The place was first mentioned by name in 1391 as "Waltendorff". The defining word of the place name is Walto, the personal name of the place founder. Waltendorf could have been named after Georg Rusam in the 8th century due to its favorable location and soil conditions.

In the Salbuch of the Nuremberg Nursing Office Lichtenau from 1515 2 subject families are given for Waltendorf, both of which were subordinate to the imperial city of Nuremberg. In the official description of the Lichtenau nursing office from 1748, the place is part of the Immeldorf main team. There were still the 2 Nuremberg subject families. The place belonged to the municipality of Malmersdorf .

Waltendorf also belonged to Malmersdorf towards the end of the 18th century. There were 2 properties in Waltendorf. The high court and the village and community rulership was exercised by the Lichtenau nursing office. Both farms had the Lichtenau nursing office as the landlord. When the house numbers were assigned at the beginning of the 19th century, the properties were given the numbers 15 and 16 of the village of Malmersdorf.

As part of the community edict , Waltendorf was assigned to the Immeldorf tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Immeldorf, founded in 1810 . With the second community edict (1818) Waltendorf was re-ceded to the newly formed rural community Malmersdorf . This was incorporated into the municipality of Lichtenau on April 1, 1971 as part of the regional reform .
