The Waterways and Shipping Office Duisburg-Rhein (WSA Duisburg-Rhein) was a waterways and shipping office in Germany. It belonged to the service area of the General Directorate for Waterways and Shipping , formerly Waterways and Shipping Directorate West .
By merging the waterways and shipping authorities in Bingen , Cologne and Duisburg-Rhein, it was merged into the new waterways and shipping authority for the Rhine on January 30, 2020 .
Area of responsibility
The Duisburg-Rhein Waterways and Shipping Office was responsible for the Rhine federal waterways from the city limits of Duisburg / Krefeld (Rhine km 759.7) to the border with the Netherlands (Rhine km 865.52, left bank of the Rhine and Rhine km 857, 67, right bank of the Rhine) and the Rhine-Kleve shipping route .
Area of responsibility
The tasks of the waterways and shipping authority Duisburg-Rhein included:

- The outskirts of Emmerich were responsible for the Rhine from the German-Dutch border to Xanten-Obermörmter or Xanten-Vynen (Rhine km 833.0) and the Rhine-Kleve shipping route.
- The Wesel suburb was responsible for the Rhine from Rheinberg-Orsoy (Rhine km 795.0) to Obermörmter or Vynen (Rhine km 833.0).
- The outskirts of Duisburg were responsible for the Rhine from Krefeld-Bockum (Rhine km 759.7) to Rheinberg-Orsoy (Rhine km 795.0).
District headquarters Duisburg
The Duisburg-Rhein waterways and shipping authority operated the Duisburg district headquarters. The Revierzentrale monitors traffic around the clock in the Lower Rhine and West German canals (Rhine between the German-Dutch border to Rolandseck , Rhine km 640, Rhine-Kleve shipping route, Wesel-Datteln Canal , Rhine-Herne Canal , Ruhr , Dortmund-Ems Canal , Datteln-Hamm Canal ) and the coastal canal. The district control center was put into operation in 1993 and fundamentally modernized in 2009.
The Revierzentrale Duisburg also operates the nautical information radio (NIF) and the reporting and information system inland shipping (MIB) introduced in 1995.
- The nautical information radio is used to exchange messages between road users on the waterways in the area monitored by the district control center.
- The inland waterway reporting and information system (MIB) extends from Basel to Rotterdam and on the Lower Main . It is used to collect transport data from specific ships by the district control centers. The data are recorded for the first time at the start of a trip and updated during the trip. B. in the case of ship accidents, the data required for the rescue services and the authorities responsible for averting danger are available.
