Welzmühle is a district of the large district town of Kulmbach in Upper Franconia .

geography

The wasteland lies in the deeply cut valley of the Leßbach, a left tributary of the Rodach . In the north the forest borders, in the south the Ottenhain. The district road KU 33 / KC 6 leads to Gössersdorf (1.5 km southeast) or to the B 85 (1 km west).

history

The place was first mentioned by name in 1520 as "Weltzemuel". The final word of the place name is the family name Welz of the original owner of the property. Welzmühle was in the Fraisch district of the Bayreuth administration of Kulmbach . The Fraisch was at times disputed by the neighboring Bamberg center Stadtsteinach .

Towards the end of the 18th century there was a property in Welzmühle. The high court was exercised by the Bavarian Bailiwick of Kulmbach . The basic rule about the grinding mill had the box office Kulmbach .

From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the justice and chamber office Kulmbach . With the community edict, Welzmühle was assigned to the Kirchleus tax district formed in 1811 and the Kirchleus rural community formed in 1812 . In the course of the regional reform in Bavaria , Welzmühle was incorporated into Kulmbach on January 1, 1976.
