Werner Leitner (born September 8, 1969 in Graz ) is a former Austrian triathlete . He is included in the best list of Austrian triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

State champion triathlon long distance 2004

Werner Leitner started triathlon in 1990 and in 2004 he became Austrian state champion on the long distance in Klagenfurt.

After completing his dissertation and working at the Technical University of Graz , he started as a triathlon professional in early 2007 and was able to qualify four times for a starting place at the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii.

Abu Dhabi Triathlon Team 2009

Together with the two Germans Faris Al-Sultan , who won the Ironman Hawaii in 2005, and Swen Sundberg , he founded the Abu Dhabi Triathlon Team in spring 2009 in order to pass on his experience.

Since 2014 he has worked as general secretary for the pewag racing team of the Austrian chain manufacturer pewag.
