history

Grünhagen emerged from a collection of small farms that had been created as a colony. On January 18, 1868, the Grünhagen colony was converted into an independent municipality by a resolution by the government of Köslin . In 1871 there were twenty houses in Grünhagen with a total of 111 inhabitants. In 1925 there were 21 houses. In 1939 93 inhabitants were counted, who were distributed over 24 households. Since Grünhagen did not have a school of its own, school children went to school in Groß Brüskow. All residents were Protestant; the village belonged to the parish of Groß Brüskow.

Before the end of the Second World War , Grünhagen belonged to the district of Groß Brüskow in the district of Stolp , administrative district of Köslin , the province of Pomerania . The parish area was 138 hectares.

Towards the end of the Second World War, the region was occupied by the Red Army on March 8, 1945 and shortly thereafter placed under Polish administration. Grünhagen was renamed Wierzbięcin . The inhabitants were driven out ; later 35 villagers displaced from Grünhagen were identified in the FRG and 24 in the GDR .

In 2008 Wierzbięcin had 86 inhabitants.
