Simon Wilhelm Linde-Suden , from Linde-Suden since 1909 , (born August 7, 1848 in Borby , † September 10, 1922 in Braunschweig ) was a Prussian infantry general .

Life

Military career

Linde attended the Realgymnasium in Rendsburg and entered the Prussian Army's 6th Silesian Field Artillery Regiment on April 1, 1866 with the prospect of promotion . With the regiment he took part in the battle near Roßbrunn and the bombardment of Würzburg in the same year during the German War in the Main Army . After the peace treaty , Linde became a Portepeefähnrich on October 15, 1866 and second lieutenant on November 9, 1867 . In August 1869 he was sent to the United Artillery and Engineering School for further training . When the war against France began in 1870, Linde joined the staff of the 2nd Foot Department as an adjutant and took part in the bombardments of Pfalzburg and Toul and the siege of Paris . His achievements were honored by being awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class.

After the end of the war, Linde graduated from the War Academy from October 1, 1872 to July 26, 1875 and was meanwhile transferred to the Upper Silesian Field Artillery Regiment No. 21 in Schweidnitz on August 15, 1874 under promotion to Prime Lieutenant . On May 18, 1876, this was followed by a command to service the Great General Staff , which was extended by one year in May 1877. Here Linde was promoted to captain on April 18, 1878 and transferred to the side budget. On April 7, 1881, he was transferred to Magdeburg to the General Staff of the IV Army Corps . From October 14, 1882 to March 13, 1885, Linde was active in the general staff of the 31st Division in Strasbourg and then served as company commander in the Oldenburg Infantry Regiment 91 . Transferred to the General Staff of the 22nd Division , he was reassigned to the Army General Staff on January 7, 1886. Promoted to major there on February 20, 1886 , Linde joined the General Staff of the XI on May 14, 1887 . Army Corps in Kassel . With the transfer to the 6th Baden Infantry Regiment "Kaiser Friedrich III." No. 114 , he returned to service on September 21, 1889 and became the commander of the III. Battalions in Constance . Commissioned with the functions of a regular staff officer , he was transferred to the infantry regiment "Graf Kirchbach" (1st Lower Silesian) No. 46 on April 18, 1891 . Promoted to lieutenant colonel shortly thereafter , Linde was appointed chief of the general staff of the Metz governorate on March 29, 1892 . From September 14, 1893, he acted as head of department in the General Staff, was appointed colonel on May 14, 1894 and as such was appointed commander of the Magdeburg Fusilier Regiment No. 36 on March 19, 1896 . With his promotion to major general on July 20, 1897, Linde became commander of the 14th Infantry Brigade in Düsseldorf . He gave up this large formation on December 3, 1900 and, as Lieutenant General, commanded the 4th Division in Bromberg until April 23, 1904 . Subsequently, Linde became the commanding general of the XI. Army Corps and promoted to General of the Infantry on June 22, 1905.

On September 24, 1906, he was released from his command and appointed President of the Reich Military Court with a transfer to officers à la suite of the army . At the same time, Linde also acted as an agent for the Federal Council from October 9, 1906 . In recognition of his many years of service , Kaiser Wilhelm II raised Linde to the hereditary Prussian nobility on January 27, 1909 . The name extension "Linde-Suden" took place on October 14, 1909. On April 7, 1911, he was released from his employment and, with the approval of his resignation request, put up for disposal with the statutory pension . On the occasion of his departure, Linde received the Order of Merit of the Prussian Crown . He was also the holder of the Grand Cross of the Red Eagle Order and the Order of the Crown, 1st Class.

During the First World War , Linde was reused as a ZD officer and acted from August 2, 1914 to November 28, 1916 as the commanding general of the Deputy General Command of the X Army Corps in Hanover.
