The World Grand Prix 2020 is a major tournament in darts and is to be held for the 23rd time by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) from October 4th to October 10th . For the first time since 2000, the venue will not be the Citywest Hotel Dublin , but the Ricoh Arena in Coventry .

Events in advance

After the COVID-19 pandemic had also largely paralyzed professional darts, it was questionable whether tournaments like the World Grand Prix could take place in 2020 and whether spectators would be allowed. On August 28, 2020 the PDC decided to forego the traditional venue, the Citywest Hotel in Dublin , and to hold the tournament without spectators in the Ricoh Arena in Coventry , England .

format

The tournament is played in the knockout system in sets , which in turn are divided into a best of five legs mode. The number of sets to be won increases per round. Game mode in the 1st round is a best of 3 sets . Until the final, the mode increases to best of 9 sets . Each leg is played in 501 double-in-double-out mode.
