Root Jesse Window (Pontivy)
The Wurzel-Jesse window in the Catholic Church of St-Mériadec in Stival, a district of the French commune of Pontivy in the Morbihan department in the Brittany region , was created in 1552. The leaded glass window was added to the list of architectural monuments in France in 1904 as Monument historique .
The window in the choir was created by an unknown workshop. It shows the root of Jesse , a widespread pictorial motif in Christian art of the Middle Ages and early modern times. The family tree of Christ is represented in the form of a tree that grows out of the figure of Jesse .
