Featured article review (FAR)

Today's featured article (TFA):

Featured article tools:

The following is a list of articles which do not feature inline citations, or which feature only a few. Featured article criteria have changed since 2005, and inline citations are now required for new featured articles; ideally, all older FAs will add inline citations where appropriate. Generally, articles are included here if they have fewer than 10 footnotes. This is partly arbitrary, but the standard article passing FAC typically has a minimum of 20 or so. This list is not canonical, a policy, a "punishment" for articles, or a proxy for the regular Featured article review; it is meant to aid people in tracking featured articles that may have citation issues, and not more than that.

As FAs with citations problems lose status through the Featured article review process, they are to be struck through (example) on this list. See the statistics below for the total number with problems at the initial drafting of this list and subsequently.

It is presumed that most of these articles are well-researched, and references (though not in-line citations) should exist in all of them. There is reason to trust the factual accuracy of these articles, but the lack of in-line citations makes true verification difficult.

As not every article has been read in compiling this list, it is possible that some articles featured Harvard-style inline citations rather than footnotes. If so they may be removed when the inconsistency is discovered. Additionally, many articles may use the Inote template, which hides the references in the editable text. It is likely that several entries on this list should not be here for this reason; if you spot any that use the Inote template, leave a note on the talk page and someone will investigate.

The initial list was helpfully compiled by User:The Disco King, with sub-lists created by User:SandyGeorgia.
