2. Women's Handball League 2010/2011

The 2010/11 season of the 3rd division women's handball was the first in its history. 56 teams played in four seasons for the north, east, south and west German championship as well as qualification for the 2nd Bundesliga . The graduation was based on geographical factors.

Due to the amalgamation of the two 2nd national leagues for the 2011/2012 season, there was a separate promotion and relegation regulation in the first season of the 3rd league. The four season winners played with the table eighth of the seasons north and south of the 2nd Bundesliga two participants in the single-track 2nd Bundesliga, while the four losers of this relegation and the eight relegated teams from the 2nd Bundesliga started in the 3rd division. The teams in places 10-14 were relegated to the major leagues. As usual, twelve teams rose from the major leagues.

The TV Mainzlar , the SC Riesa (both relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga), the SV Wacker Osterwald (group east), the SG Leutershausen (group south) and those eligible for promotion from the Oberliga Nordsee waived their participation in the coming season of the 3rd division. League. Therefore, all group tenth remained in the 3rd division. The fifth free starting place was played in a relegation between the group eleventh and the reporting group runners-up of the top leagues.

The last two teams of each season of the 2nd Bundesliga (north and south) and the loser of the relegation of the last two were relegated to the new 3rd division.

Regional leagues (40 teams)

The five regional league champions went straight to the 2nd Bundesliga. The teams that finished the 2009/2010 season in positions 2 to 9 were qualified. The last five teams (places 10 and below) of each season were relegated to the major leagues (a total of 25 relegated teams).

From the total of 16 currently existing upper leagues , seven champions rose directly to the new 3rd division. In play-off games, the twelve remaining national champions determined the four other promoted teams.

Play-offs Northeast II

The masters from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Berlin-Brandenburg renounced the promotion. For this, Baden-Württemberg received a second promotion place (see above).

Play-offs North Rhine

The master from Middle Rhine had withdrawn. Therefore, the master from Niederrhein was certain as a climber (see above).

Play-offs in Central Germany

The masters from Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt had withdrawn. Therefore, the master from Saxony was established as a climber (see above).

Promotion relegation

The HSG Blomberg-Lippe II (3rd League East) and the Rote Löwen Bascharage (3rd League West) as well as any successors waived their participation in the relegation. The two winners played in the 2nd division for the next season, while the two losers played in the 3rd division.

Relegation relegation

In the relegation relegation the four table eleventh of the 3rd league and the successors from the upper leagues were entitled to participate. The WSG Eningen-Pfullingen (3rd League South), the DJK / MJC Trier II (3rd League West), the TV Pflugfelden (Oberliga Baden-Württemberg), the HC Rödertal (Oberliga Mitteldeutschland) and the HSG Dutenhofen / Münchholzhausen (Oberliga Hessen) registered for the relegation games, all other teams decided not to participate. The five teams were divided into two groups. The two group winners then played for the last free place in the 3rd division.
