Quantum Air , until 2009 AeBal , was a Spanish airline based in Madrid and based at Madrid-Barajas Airport .
history
AeBal
The airline was founded in 1999 under the name Aerolineas de Baleares , or AeBal for short , and began operating three Boeing 717s on July 4, 2000 as a subsidiary of Spanair . The national flights were flown as Spanair Link . The airline was owned by Spanair (51%) and the SAS Group (49%). After Spanair ended the Spanair Link cooperation , AeBal also had to cease flight operations on September 16, 2008. Three aircraft were transferred to Spanair and the remaining five were returned to the lessor and parked until flight operations were resumed.
Quantum Air
AeBal was renamed Quantum Air in spring 2009 under the new owner, the Spanish investment group Proturin, and flight operations were resumed.
On January 26, 2010, Quantum Air announced that ticket sales would be suspended until further notice, as flight operations could not be continued for reasons outside the company. Quantum Air cites unspecified breaches of contract by former managers and the former owner SAS as a more precise cause.

Quantum Air flew to national destinations and offered numerous charter flights and ACMI services within Europe. It last had its hub at Madrid-Barajas Airport .
fleet
As of February 2010, the Quantum Air fleet consisted of a Boeing 717-200 aircraft .
As of January 2011, no more machines are registered with the company. At that time, Quantum Air was the only European operator of the Boeing 717 alongside Spanair . Blue1 took over its units gradually .
