The Agar Malwa district is located in the northwestern part of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh .

The district was created on August 16, 2013 by splitting off Tehsils Agar , Barod , Nalkheda and Susner from the then Shajapur district . The district has an area of ​​2725.78 km². In the 2011 census, the population of the four Tehsils was 518,324.

The district administration is located in the city of Agar , 110 km north of Indore . Agar has municipal council status . Other cities ( Nagar Panchayats ) in the district are Badagaon , Barod , Kanad , Nalkedha , Soyatkalan and Susner . The district is located on the Malwa plateau at an average altitude of 138  m . It borders the state of Rajasthan in the north .

Administrative division

The district is divided into two revenue sub-divisions and 4 blocks, which in turn are divided into 227 gram panchayats . There are 516 villages in the district.
