The district of Narsinghpur (also Narsimhapur ) is located in the central-eastern part of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh .
The district has an area of 5125.55 km². In the 2011 census, the population was 1,092,141. The gender distribution was 52.15% men and 47.84% women. The district administration is located in the city of Narsinghpur . The name of the city and the district is derived from the Narasimha temple. The district is located in a basin landscape which the Narmada flows through -flow, and the Vindhya Range to the north and from the Satpura is framed in the south.

The district is divided into 5 Tehsils : Gadarwara , Gotegaon , Kareli , Narsinghpur and Tendukheda .
