The Ahrberger Holz / Groß Förster Holz is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxon community of Giesen in the Hildesheim district .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG HA 179 is 44 hectares in size. It consists of two sub-areas, one of which, Ahrberger Holz, is located south of Ahrbergen and the other, Groß Förster Holz, between Ahrbergen and Groß Förste, to the west of federal highway 6 . The nature reserve is a formerly contiguous rest of alluvial forest with a pronounced layer of bushes and herbs in the valley of the Innerste .
Between the two parts of the nature reserve is the Im Hasenwinkel industrial park, which was partly built on the site of the former Ohnacker barracks. Some areas in the nature reserve are used for agriculture. These areas are to be converted back into riparian forest in the medium term.
The area has been a nature reserve since October 24, 1996. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Hildesheim district.
