Alfons Vranckx

Alfons Vranckx (* 24. January 1907 in Kessel-Lo , † 30th June 1979 in Leuven ) was a Belgian politician of the Belgian Labor Party and most recently the Belgian Socialist Party, among others, from 1968 to 1973 Minister of Justice of Belgium was and the 1977 honorary title a Minister of State .

Alfons Vranckx became a member of the Chamber of Deputies for the Belgian Labor Party for the first time on May 24, 1939 and represented the interests of the Leuven district until November 27, 1947 . At the same time he became a member of the municipal council of his birthplace Kessel-Lo in 1938 and belonged to it until 1946. Between 1938 and 1946 he was also an alderman of Kessel-Lo and between 1940 and 1941 and again in 1945 acting mayor of Kessel-Lo. In 1947 he became a member of the State Council and was a member of the Council of State until 1963.

On May 23, 1965, Vranckx was again a member of the Chamber of Deputies for the Belgian Socialist Party, in which he again represented the Leuven district until March 9, 1974. Shortly after his election, he was appointed Minister of the Interior in the Harmel government on July 28, 1965 and was a member of the Harmel government until the end of Prime Minister Pierre Harmel's term on March 18, 1966. In the G. Eyskens V government , he took over the post of Justice Minister of Belgium on June 17, 1968, and from January 21, 1972 to January 25, 1973, he also served in the G. Eyskens VI government . On December 7, 1971, he also became a member of the Cultural Council of the Dutch Cultural Community for the BSP , the forerunner of the Flemish Community . He was a member of the Cultural Council until March 9, 1974 and was a member of the Rules Committee from March 6, 1973 to March 9, 1974.

On February 14, 1977 Alfons Vranckx was awarded the honorary title of Minister of State .
