Allan Kierstein Jepsen (born July 4, 1977 in Kolding ) is a former Danish football player . The defender , who made his debut for the Danish national team in 2005 , has been playing for AC Horsens , the newcomer to the Danish Super League , the country's top division , since summer 2010 .

Career

Career start

Jepsen started playing football at Stilling IF . In the early 1990s he moved to Brøndby IF's youth . There those responsible for the Dansk Boldspil Union discovered him and appointed him to the junior national teams of the association. On April 14, 1992 he ran alongside the later professional players Jon Dahl Tomasson , Ulrich Vinzents and David Nielsen in the 6-0 victory over the Austrian youth national team in a youth tournament in Graz for the first time in the national jersey.

Jepsen later moved to Aarhus GF's youth department . Here he returned on May 12, 1994 in the 1-0 win over the Finnish youth team back in the association teams and ran for the first time in the U-19 national team. As a result, he stayed in the selection team and also moved up in 1996 at his club in the squad of the men's team. On September 6 of the year he made his debut as a substitute in the Superliga when he was substituted on in the 0-1 away defeat at Odense BK in the 81st minute for Thomas Thorninger . In 23 games over the course of the 1996/97 season he contributed to the side of Stig Tøfting , Håvard Flo and Martin Jørgensen to reach third place in the table behind Masters Brøndby IF and Vejle BK .

Luckily in Germany and the Netherlands

Jürgen Wähling , who worked as a talent sifter for Hamburger SV , discovered Jepsen in Denmark. On his advice, the traditional North German club signed the defender. On the 3rd matchday of the 1997/98 Bundesliga season he made his debut in German professional football when Frank Pagelsdorf substituted him for Dirk Weetendorf in the 2-1 away defeat at FC Hansa Rostock at half-time . On the following match day he was in the starting line-up for the first time in the 2-0 defeat against FC Bayern Munich , but could not stay in the team and played twelve Bundesliga games in his first season. Even in his second year for HSV, he was only part of the starting line-up and scored his only Bundesliga goal in the 2-1 defeat at Borussia Dortmund on November 24, 1998.

In the summer of 1999 Jepsen left Hamburger SV for the Netherlands. SC Heerenveen became the new employer in the honor division . In the defensive chain around players like Gerard de Nooijer , Johan Hansma and Ronny Venema , however, he again only remained a supplementary player.

Return to Denmark

After a year and a half at SC Heerenveen, Jepsen returned to the Danish Super League. The defender was hired by Aalborg BK , where he established himself as a regular in the defense chain alongside Thomas Bælum and Klebér Saarenpää . In the 2001/02 season he was in the starting eleven in all 33 games of the season, only in the 0-1 defeat against FC Midtjylland he was prematurely withdrawn in the 76th minute of play by coach Peter Rudbæk . As a long-running favorite, he recommended himself for the national team and came on March 6, 2002 in the 0-1 defeat in an unofficial international match alongside Lars Jacobsen , Thomas Frandsen and Martin Albrechtsen on the defensive for his first appearance in the national jersey.

Jepsen was also one of the regulars under coach Poul Erik Andreasen, who was signed up the following season, and his successor Erik Hamrén . At the side of Rasmus Würtz , Martin Ericsson and David Nielsen, he reached the 2004 cup final against FC Copenhagen . The game ended with a goal from Morten Bisgaard in a 0-1 defeat, but since the capital club became national champions, Jepsen moved his team into the 2004/05 UEFA Cup . There he failed with the team in the first round to AJ Auxerre , where he was used in both games. At the end of the 2004/05 season , in which he was used in 32 games, he reached fourth place with the club. After almost 150 first division games for the club, he was also given the opportunity to prove himself in an official international match for the first time. On June 2, 2005 he came as a substitute for Niclas Jensen in the 71st minute in the 1-0 victory over Finland to his "real" national team debut .

Jepsen could not assert himself in the national team. At his club, however, he was still one of the regulars. By the winter break of the 2005/06 season he was in 19 of the 20 league games for the club on the field.

Moved to Norway and returned again

In March 2006, Jepsen used a clause of his contract, according to which he can get out of his contract for a transfer fee of 2.5 million Danish kroner , and moved to the Norwegian club Vålerenga IF . For the reigning Norwegian champions, he played all 26 league games during the 2006 season. So he played his way back to the national team and came on May 31, 2006 in the 2-0 defeat against France for his second international game. At the side of Ronny Johnsen , Daniel Fredheim Holm and Kjetil Wæhler , he competed with his club in qualifying for the 2006/07 UEFA Champions League , but failed to Mladá Boleslav .

In the following two seasons, Jepsen was largely part of the team. With the team he moved into the cup final against the master Stabæk IF in 2008 . With two goals each from Mohammed Abdellaoue and Holm, a 4-1 triumph was achieved, in which Jepsen was on the field for the entire duration of the game.

At the beginning of the 2009 season , Jepsen hardly got a chance. Therefore he left the club in the summer of that year and returned to his home country again. At Randers FC, he signed a six-month contract valid until New Year's Eve 2009 in June and then moved to Aachen's Alemannia until the end of the season. After 15 appearances in the German second division, Jepsens returned home again, where he signed a contract with the newly promoted Super League, AC Horsens , at the end of June 2010 .

After the 2010/11 season, Allan Kierstein Jepsen ended his active career.
