Part of the Axa Group, which was renamed Axa in 1985 , is Axa Germany, whose CEO has been Alexander Vollert since September 16, 2016. His predecessor Thomas Buberl took over as CEO of the international Axa Group on September 2, 2016. From January 1, 2007, Frank Keuper held this position, who had already been working in this position at DBV-Winterthur since 2004. Until August 2005, Claus-Michael Dill was CEO of Axa Germany. He succeeded Eugène Teysen, who previously sat on the board of the Belgian financial services provider Fortis .

As a consequence of the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001 Axa announced its 850 million-euro loss insurance for the 2002 World Cup of FIFA .
