Tony T (* 1971 in London ; bourgeois Neal Antone Dyer ) is an English singer and rapper , of Jamaica origin and lives in Recklinghausen. He became known through projects such as Beat System and RIO .

Life

His parents are both from Jamaica. He became interested in music at a young age and moved to Brooklyn, New York after moving. He played the Grease soundtrack on a guitar that he got when he was five . Neal Antone also taught himself to play the keyboard, flute and drums.

It was in the 80s breakdance scene that he began to write rap texts and dance for the first time. At the age of 14 he started a career as a DJ and was hired two years later, in 1986 when he moved to Germany, as a resident DJ at Club Gaslight.

In Mühlheim he first began training as a painter and varnisher. "For six months I was only allowed to paint heaters - that's when I quit." he told the WZ (West-Deutsche Zeitung) .

Within a year, Neal Antone aka Tony T was traveling from studio to studio, lending his vocals to various music productions, including singles like Micha Moors club hit Space in 2007, while continuing as an MC and DJ in numerous clubs across the world Europe performed.

Career

1994: Beat System project

In the early 1990s, he brought out his singles together with various producers under the name Beat System . His first single under the pseudonym appeared in 1986 as a white sample . The Noise Dance was available as a limited edition and only in Germany. It wasn't until 1994 that the two singles Dance Romance and Dance Romance Chapter Two followed on the German record label Insania Records. The titles were written by C. Kowatsch and Wormit. This was followed in 1995 another single titled Stay with Me that of Axel widening produced was. The project had its first chart hit in 1996, after switching to the Blow Up label, with a cover version of the song Fresh, which originally came from Kool & The Gang . The next single Reggaenight , a cover version of the Jimmy Cliff hit , also hit the German single charts. In 1997 Intercord released a full album under the name Refreshiator . Then the project was ended.

In 2014 the project was brought back to life for the first time by Dyer and the singer NadiaPartyka under the name "BeatSistem". The first track was released in collaboration with the DJ Johan K. It's called Let Us Play . The project was dissolved only a few months later.

2008–2012: career with RIO

At the beginning of 2008 he took part in the German dance project RIO . It previously consisted of Yanou alias Yann Pfeifer and Manian alias Manuel Reuther, who had already released their debut single De Janeiro / RIO as RIO . Their first single, Shine On , was an international hit. It made it to the top of the dance charts and number 1 on the Israeli annual charts in 2008 and was also represented in the official charts across Europe. This was followed by other hits such as When the Sun Comes Down , Hot Girl , Like I Love You and Miss Sunshine . In 2011 the song Turn This Club Around was released , the first song to make it into the top 5 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The successor single Animal was able to reach all the charts.

2012: Solo career

In 2012, Tony T. separated from RIO after five years in order to start a solo career. Shortly thereafter, he released his single Way to Rio . The song contains the RIO reggae style from 2008. However, the single remained a rather minor success.

In summer 2012 he worked with Darius & Finlay . This is how the title Phenomenon came about and was able to enter the top 30 of the Austrian charts after just one week. There it reached number 26 and was there for a total of three weeks.

Together with Soulwash, he released the song No Games on September 14, 2012 . It is a cover of the Serani track of the same name from 2008. It was also recorded in three versions. On the one hand in a reggae version that is very similar to the original, there was also a French and a dance version, which was mixed by the dance project Al King and became the title song.

Early in 2013 it was announced that he would record a song together with the singer Ardian Bujupi , who placed third thanks to DSDS . This is called Want U Now and was finally released on May 31, 2013.

2013-today: DNGRS Crew / further development as a solo artist

In May 2013 he founded the band DNGRS Crew , short for Dangerous Crew, together with the Zimbabwean rapper Carlprit and the Söhne Mannheims rappers Marlon B. and Metaphysics . They recorded their first single with DJ Mase. It was released on May 24, 2013 via Kontor Records .

On the published in June 2013 album Summer Is Here by Darius & Finlay a song called was Give Me Your Love included. In this he worked as a singer. However, this has not yet been released as a separate single, but is only available as an album track. In addition, no original version has yet been released, only the Club Mix.

On June 28, 2013, several songs in which he participated as a guest musician were released as a single. With Mike Candys and Evelyn came Everybody out. Breaking the Ice appeared with the Bodybangers and together with Steve Modana he released Crazy .

On August 2, 2013, the title Work was published in a remix version by E-Partment via Kontor Records . He works as a guest musician with SOHO and the American rapper Flo Rida . Flo Rida Part was not originally sung, but taken from one of his own songs.

Together with Sasha Lopez and Big Ali, he recorded the song Beautiful Life in the summer. The music video was released in June. A publication was originally planned for July 2013, but this could not take place due to unknown reasons. The title finally appeared on August 16, 2013.

After a great success in the clubs with the song Breaking the Ice , the Bodybangers and Tony T decided to record another track together. This resulted in a cover of the song Break My Stride by Matthew Wilder from 1983. The track was released under the same name on August 16, 2013. Within a week, the song climbed into the singles charts of various countries and before it was released in all DJs - and dance charts.

In 2014 there was another series of guest contributions. This resulted in a single with the then Bachelor Paul Janke , who tried his hand at being a DJ, and with Toy T. on the song I Wanna Live in Brazil , which was supposed to function as a World Cup song. After winning the World Cup, the song was rewritten and the song Der 4. Stern appeared with German text . After the success with the song Crazy, he also released a second single with the German DJ and producer Steve Modana . The song We Came To Party with Manuel Baccano and Alpha, Here It Tonight with ONdray and the World Cup song Count Your Blessings with Alessio Pras also appeared.

Later in 2014 he started recording a number of songs with singer Alba Kras. The commercially successful tracks Summer Summer and Have It All Tonight with Johan K, Life Is Better with Sean Finn, Hot Game Manuel Baccano and her solo single Life were released in autumn through winter 2014 . Despite many views on YouTube and frequent plays on the radio, the song did not reach any placements in the singles charts.
