HRH Princess Beatrice Elizabeth Mary of York (born August 8, 1988 in London ) is the older daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson . Her younger sister is Princess Eugenie of York . Princess Beatrice is number 9 in line to the British throne .

Princess Beatrice was born on August 8, 1988 at Portland Hospital in London. Her parents followed the trend within the British royal family of not allowing their children to be born at home. It was named after Princess Beatrice of Great Britain and Ireland . She was baptized Beatrice Elizabeth Mary on December 20, 1988 at St James's Palace , London. Viscount Linley , Lady Jane Dawnay, Peter Palumbo, Baron Palumbo , Gabrielle Greenall and Carolyn Cotterell were present as godparents .


From 2000 to 2007 the Princess attended St. George's School in Ascot , Berkshire , England. In 2006 she became head girl. The princess suffered from dyslexia and postponed her school leaving certificate for a year. In 2007 she graduated from high school in drama, history and film.

The princess paused the year between graduating from school and starting her studies. During this time she traveled to South America and did an internship as a purchasing consultant in a department store. In September 2008 she began a three-year study of history at Goldsmiths College , London. In September 2011, Princess Beatrice graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in history and history of ideas with a grade of 2: 1.

Until summer 2013 she worked in the finance department at Cabot Square Capital. In early 2014 she took up an internship at Sony Pictures Television .

Private life

Since her 18th birthday, her private life has often been the subject of the tabloids. She is often referred to as the "princess redhead". In 2006 she was in a relationship with the American student Paolo Liuzzo. That relationship ended in March 2006 when it was learned that he was involved in the death of another American student and was convicted of assault. From 2007 to 2016 she was in a relationship with the American millionaire son David Clark, who is employed by Richard Branson .

On September 26, 2019, Beatrice announced her engagement to the British-Italian real estate entrepreneur Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi (* 1983), with whom she has been in a relationship since October 2018. He is the son of the British-Italian Olympian Alessandro Mapelli-Mozzi (* 1951), who comes from a former Italian count family. The couple married on July 17, 2020 at All Saints Chapel in Windsor Castle Park .

Although it has been widely suspected that she lives in her own house in London, she lives in St James's Palace and in her father's house on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Princess Beatrice and her mother took part in the London Fashion Week finale in September 2007 as a model. The princess starred as an extra in Young Victoria (2008), a Martin Scorsese production about Queen Victoria .

The princess supports some humanitarian projects. In 2002 she visited HIV- infected children in Russia. Together with her boyfriend, David Clark, the princess became the first member of the royal family to run the London Marathon in April 2010 to raise funds for charities.

At the wedding of William Mountbatten-Windsor and Catherine Middleton , she caused a sensation with her oversized antler-hard fascinator . The hat created by Irish celebrity designer Philip Treacy has achieved international fame thanks to its seating position directly behind the Queen . Princess Beatrice later had the much-discussed fascinator auctioned off, and the proceeds of around 80,000 pounds were donated to the UNICEF children's aid organization .

She takes part in public appearances by the royal family, such as Trooping the Color and Ascot Week .

She is the patron of the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Center, where she found support for her dyslexia at the time. She is also the patron of Fashion for the Brave, the York Musical Society, the York Theater Royal, the Sick Kids Friends Foundation, the Forget Me Not Children's Hospice and the Broomwood African Education Foundation. She also acts as an ambassador for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
