The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Catanzaro-Squillace ( Latin Archidioecesis Catacensis-Squillacensis , Italian Arcidiocesi di Catanzaro-Squillace ) is in Italy located Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church based in Catanzaro .
history
The archbishopric was created in its current structure through the unification of the previously independent diocese of Squillace , founded in the 4th century by Pope John Paul II , with the archdiocese of Catanzaro , which was founded in 1121 as the diocese of Catanzaro and on June 5, 1927 by Pope Pius XI. had been raised to the archbishopric without a metropolitan seat. On January 30, 2001, John Paul II raised it with the Apostolic Constitution Maiori Christifidelium to the Metropolitan Archdiocese and assigned the Archdiocese of Crotone-Santa Severina and the Diocese of Lamezia Terme as suffragan dioceses .
