history

town hall

In the Middle Ages, Brøndby consisted of two villages - Brøndbyøster and Brøndbyvester - with two churches from the 12th century. In the middle of the 20th century, Brøndby Nord was built with multi-storey houses, some of which have large paintings on the gable walls. Brøndby Strand was added later. The church in Brøndby Strand, built in 1984, has a carillon and there are many carillon concerts every year.

The town hall was built in 1959 and was later expanded several times.

Infrastructure and leisure

There are various industrial locations (IT, electronics and transport companies) in Brøndby. It is the headquarters of Nilfisk-Advance AG . Brøndby also has a marina for sailing and motor boats and a beach park with white sand and dunes on Öresund , where you can swim in summer.

The Brøndby football stadium has room for 31,700 visitors. The Brøndby IF football team has been Danish champions several times . To the south of the stadium, next to the Brøndby Hallen multipurpose hall, there is the House of Sports ( Idrættens Hus ) , which houses the state elite sports organization Team Danmark , the Danish sports association Danmarks Idræts-Forbund and several of its sports associations. A little further south is the highest flagpole in Denmark, the "Margrethe flagpole" (Margrethe flagmasten) . It was a birthday present for Queen Margrethe II on her 50th birthday in 1990. The mast is 47.5 meters high and has a golden crown half a meter high as a flag button.
