history

1144 is a settlement "Brunoshube" (= Hube des Brun) mentioned for the first time. In 1298, a Marquard from “Breviningeshof” appears in a document, who waives his income from Reut (sold at Sulzbürg) in favor of the Cistercian convent Seligenporten . Since there is another place called Braunshof east of Freystadt near Berngau , it is not clear which Braunshof is meant.

With the formation of Pfalz-Neuburg in 1505, Braunshof and its parish Mörsdorf were subordinated to the Palatinate-Neuburg Office of Hilpoltstein. When this was pledged to Nuremberg in 1542, the Reformation was introduced from there , and the subjects had to accept the Lutheran doctrine. In 1578, Pfalz-Neuburg redeemed the pledge. In 1627 the Counter Reformation brought about the reintroduction of the Catholic faith through Pfalz-Neuburg. In 1664 a Salbuch from the “Praunshof” reads: “5 teams of farms and goods, namely: 2 the hospital in Freistadt, 1 Hilpoltsteinisch, whole and half farm, then one of the Seligenporten monastery.” That changed little up to End of the Old Kingdom : Around 1800, one courtyard belonged to the ducal monastery judge's office in Seligenporten with a caste office in Neumarkt, two courtyards belonged to the Freystadt Hospital Foundation, and the fourth was freely owned. There was also a parish shepherd's house. The hamlet was subordinate to the Palatinate-Neuburgic, from 1799 electoral-Baier care authority Hilpoltstein.

In the new Kingdom of Bavaria (1806) a tax district Mörsdorf was formed, to which Braunshof also belonged. With the municipal edict of 1818, this became the municipality of Mörsdorf in the Hilpoltstein regional court and rent office. The district court Hilpoltstein was subordinate to the district office Neumarkt of the administrative region Upper Palatinate, from 1880 to the district office Hilpoltstein of the administrative region Middle Franconia. The census in Bavaria of December 1, 1875 showed that Braunshof had 30 residents, 16 buildings, six horses and 61 cattle.

With the territorial reform in Bavaria , the district of Hilpoltstein was dissolved and the municipality of Mörsdorf and thus also Braunshof was incorporated into the town of Freystadt in the district of Neumarkt on July 1, 1972 and thus returned to the Upper Palatinate.
