Camastra is 34 km east of Agrigento . The 2012 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) mainly work in agriculture.

history

Camastra was founded in 1620 by Giacomo Lucchesi. The founding name was Ramulia. The property came into the possession of the Lanza family.

Attractions

The modern church of SS Salvatore on Corso Garibaldi is worth seeing. On the 542 m high mountain Castellazzo di Camastra between Camastra and Palma di Montechiaro, traces of tombs and settlements from the Stone Age to the Greek period have been found. Clay grave goods were discovered in some graves.
