Location and dates

San Giovanni Gemini is 50 kilometers north of Agrigento . The 7816 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) mainly work in agriculture. There are other jobs in quarries and in rock salt extraction .

The neighboring municipality is Cammarata .

history

The community was founded in 1451. Until 1879 the city was called San Giovanni. In 1879 the name was supplemented by the addition of Gemini (twin), as the slope on which the municipality is located has two peaks.

Attractions

The parish church, dedicated to San Giovanni, dates from the 16th century and was completed in the 17th century. The Madonna del Carmine church was built in the 16th century.
