Carmelo José González Jiménez (born July 9, 1983 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria ), also just Carmelo , is a Spanish football player .
Career
society
Carmelo José González Jiménez learned to play football in the youth team of UD Las Palmas in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria . Here he signed his first professional contract in 2000. With the club he played in the Primera División , Segunda División and the Segunda División B . In 2005 he left Las Palmas and moved to Valencia where he joined the second division UD Levante . He was loaned to league competitor Hércules Alicante for the 2006/2007 season. He was then loaned to the CD Numancia from Soria , which was also playing in the second division . With the club he rose to the Primera División at the end of the season. After the end of his contract in Levante, he moved to the first division club Sporting Gijón in Gijón . In 2012 he was relegated to the second division with Gijón. In February 2013 he went to Asia . Here he signed a contract with the Thai first division club Buriram United in Buriram . With the club he became champions in Thailand in 2013 and 2014. He also won the Thai FA Cup , the Thai League Cup and the Kor Royal Cup with Buriram . The 2013 season he was top scorer in the Thai Premier League with 23 goals . From the beginning of 2015 to mid-2016, he played for league rivals Suphanburi FC in Suphanburi . After the Hinserie 2016, he moved to the United Arab Emirates . Here he joined al-Ittihad Kalba SC from Kalba . The club played in the country's highest league, the UAE Arabian Gulf League . The contract was canceled after only 47 days. From mid-August 2016 to the beginning of October 2017 he was without a club. In October he was signed by Arucas CF , a club based in Arucas on the island of Gran Canaria .
National team
From 2000 to 2004 he played in the junior national teams of Spain. The greatest success was winning the 2002 UEFA European Championship with the Spanish U-19 national team .
