Xetaq Ruslanoviç Qazyumov ( Russian Хетаг Русланович Гозюмов Chetag Ruslanowitsch Gosjumow ; born April 24, 1983 in Suadag near Alagir , North Ossetian ASSR , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is an Azerbaijani wrestler . He became European champion in 2009 and won a bronze medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , both in the free style in the light heavyweight (up to 96 kg body weight) and in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro silver in the 97 kg class.
Career
Xetaq Qazyumov grew up in the North Ossetian Suadag, which belongs to Russia . He started wrestling there in 1990 and developed into an excellent freestyle wrestler while still a junior. His coaches were or are Aslan Tsogojew and Aarik Tedejew. He started for Russia until spring 2007 and then moved to Azerbaijan , probably because of the strong competition in Russia . Officially he is a student of agricultural sciences, but in fact he is more of a professional wrestler.
His international career began with a victory at the European Junior Championships in 2002 in Tirana in the light heavyweight division. He won there ahead of Mohamed Said Bingöl , Turkey and Sviad Sisauri from Iran . A year later he did not do so well at the Junior World Championships in Istanbul in the same weight class, he only came in 7th place there.
In the following years he did not appear in world and European championships, but achieved very good results in other international tournaments. In 2005 he won the Dan Kolow tournament in Sofia in front of the Bulgarian Dimitar Kumchev and the Iranian Alireza Robatmoradi and in 2006 at the World Cup tournament in Sari / Iran in front of Michel Batista Martinez from Cuba and Dawit Modsmanashvili from Georgia .
In January 2007 he started at the "Ivan Yarigin" tournament in Krasnoyarsk for Russia and finished there in the light heavyweight division behind his Dagestani Schirwani Muradow, who started for Russia, in 2nd place. The Grand Prix of Germany in July 2007 in Leipzig he was already on Azerbaijan at the start. He won there in the light heavyweight division in front of Aleksei Krupnjakow from Kyrgyzstan a . Sjarhej Pernikau from Belarus .
In 2007 he started for Azerbaijan at the World Championships in Baku . He left there after victories over the Chinese Yang Wu-Lin and Nicolai Ceban from Moldova after a defeat against Kurban Kurbanov from Uzbekistan and only came in 9th place. Also at the European Championships 2008 in Tampere Khetag Gasjumow could not fully convince, because he lost after two victories against Chadschimurad Gazalow from Russia and reached the 7th place.
At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 he then surprised in a pleasant way, because he won over Mateusz Guzman from Poland , Vincent Aka Akesse from France and Kurban Kurbanov, but then lost against Schirwani Muradow (1: 2 rounds and 1: 3 technical points ), who also became an Olympic champion . Xetaq Qazyumov then fought for the bronze medal with a sure point win over Georgi Tibilow from Ukraine (2-0 rounds and 7-0 technical points).
He achieved another great success at the 2009 European Championships in Vilnius , where he won the European title with victories over Daniel Ligeti from Hungary , Serhat Balcı from Turkey , Nicolai Ceban from Moldova and Georgi Ketojew from Russia. He was also able to convince with 3 wins at the 2009 World Cup in Herning / Denmark, even if he lost on points in the final battle of this championship against Chadschimurad Gazalow.
2010 turned out to be an extremely successful year for Xetaq Qazyumov. He first won the World Cup in Moscow, where he won ahead of Reza Yazdani from Iran and Georgi Ketojew. He then won the European Championship at the European Championships in Baku with a victory in the final over Giorgi Gogschelidze. After winning the Golden Grand Prix tournament, which also took place in Baku, he also won the world title in Moscow with five wins. In the decisive battles he defeated Rouslan Schejkau from Belarus, Aleksei Krupnjakow from Kyrgyzstan and his old rival Chadschimurad Gazalow.
The year 2011 began for him with a success at the Yasar Dogu Memorial in Istanbul, where he won ahead of Hamza Köseoğlu from Turkey and Ibragim Saidow from Russia. In March 2011 he won the third consecutive European title at the European Championships in Dortmund . He defeated u. a. Edgar Jenokjan from Armenia, Nikolai Ceban from Moldova and in the final Wladislaw Baizajew from Russia. But he was unable to defend his title as world champion in Istanbul . He won there in his first fight over Alen Saseev , a Russian naturalized in Ukraine, but lost to Ruslan Schejkau from Belarus and only came in 20th place.
In 2012, Xetaq Qazyumov decided not to take part in the European Championship, but instead qualified for the Olympic Games in London at a tournament in Taiyuan / China. He won there ahead of Magomed Musajew from Kyrgyzstan and Valeri Andriizew from Ukraine. At the Olympic Games in London he won a victory over Ruslan Sheikov, then lost to Valery Andriizew and was able to secure a bronze medal in the consolation round with victories over Rustam Iskandri from Tajikistan and the reigning world champion Reza Yazdani from Iran in 2011.
Xetaq Qazyumov continued his career in 2013. In March of this year he started at the European Championships in Tbilisi, where he defeated Muren Mutlu from Turkey and William Harth from Germany, but lost his third fight against Wladislaw Baizaijew from Russia. Since this did not reach the final, he was eliminated and only came in 7th place. Things went much better for him at the World Championships in Budapest in September 2013. He won there over Juri Maier from Argentina, Kamil Skasziewicz from Poland, Aleksei Krupnjakow from Kyrgyzstan and Ansor Bultukajew from Russia. In the final he faced the 2011 world champion Reza Yazdani. In a tough fight he lost against them just on points (2: 4) and became vice world champion.
