The Chrysler Series 70 was a car of the middle class , the Chrysler in Detroit produced in model year 1927th It replaced the G-70 model and represented the upper middle class in the Chrysler portfolio.

The car took over from its predecessor the side-controlled 6-cylinder in-line engine with 3,582 cm³ displacement, which delivered 68 bhp (50 kW) power. The rear wheels were driven via a single-disc dry clutch and a three-speed gearbox with center shift. All four wheels were hydraulically braked as standard. Twelve different bodies were offered, which corresponded to those of the large six-cylinder model series 80 "Imperial" .

In 1928 the model was called Chrysler Series 72 . The wheelbase had grown by 6 "(152 mm). The new six-cylinder engine had 4,078 cc and developed 85 bhp (62.5 kW). Instead of twelve, only ten different bodies were offered, including a 4-door convertible (only 36 times built!) and a 2-door roadster (whereby the Landau limousine previously manufactured was no longer available).

From the Series 70 48 254 units were built, the series 72 was built 23,293 times. In the 1929 model year, the revised 75 series replaced the 72 series.

In 1930 a Chrysler Series 70 / II appeared again . He replaced together with the Series 77 to Series 75 of the previous year. In contrast to its predecessor, it was equipped with a four-speed gearbox, but had a shorter wheelbase and the 70 series engine from 1928, albeit with 75 bhp (55 kW). Later this model series also received the large six-cylinder with 4,398 cm³ displacement and 93 bhp (68 kW). From the 70 series only seven different bodies were offered.

In 1931 the 70 / II series was continued with a few changes. This also included a V-shaped grille. Only four bodies (3 coupes and a 4-door sedan) were still offered.

A total of 18,733 units of the 70 / II series were made when it was discontinued in mid-1932 without a successor.
