The Chrysler 300 is a car model in the upper middle class of the car brand Chrysler offered since 2011 .
In Europe, the model was offered as the Lancia Thema from autumn 2011 to October 2014 . In the USA the model will continue to be built and sold as the Chrysler 300 or 300C.
Model history
The vehicle was first shown publicly at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2011. The market launch in North America (as the second generation and successor to the Chrysler 300 presented in 2004 ) took place in early 2011. At the end of 2014, the vehicle received a facelift , the first was shown at the LA Auto Show .
The model was offered in Europe from autumn 2011 to October 2014, namely as the Lancia Thema and thus also as the successor to the discontinued Lancia Thesis . Exceptions were Russia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and Ireland, where it was offered as the Chrysler 300C.
design
The body with the high waistline is influenced by the model before the revision, but the all-round visibility is said to have been improved by 15%. The front is also in Chrysler's design tradition. The indicated tail fins drawn towards the rear lights are based on previous models from the 1950s. Another influence is the Chrysler 200C EV concept vehicle presented in 2009.
The interior of the new 300 is available in two leather appointments, one with nappa leather and one by Poltrona Frau . Fabric seats are standard.
Engines
In the USA and Australia, the car is offered with petrol engines from Chrysler's "Pentastar" and "Hemi" engine families. A V6 diesel engine with turbocharging is also available.
In China it is also available with a 3.0-liter gasoline engine.
In Russia, the Ukraine, the United Kingdom and Ireland, as well as in Korea, the 300 was also available with the engines of its sister model Lancia Thema.
Technology and production
The technical basis is the revised LX - platform from Chrysler. Like the previous model, the vehicle will be built in Brampton (Ontario) . Production started on January 7, 2011.
safety
Due to new regulations for rollover tests, the vehicle pillars have been reinforced compared to the previous model by using high-strength steels.
The IIHS gave the 2011 model year Dodge Charger, which is based on the same platform, a “moderate overlap front” crash test with “good”.
In the US NCAP test, the overall rating for the 2012 model year vehicle is five stars and the 2016 model year vehicle is four stars.
