The Chrysler Stratus is an upper mid -range car model from the US manufacturer Chrysler .
It was offered as a sedan from 1995 to 2000 and as a convertible from 1996 to 2001 . The successor to the Chrysler Stratus was the Chrysler Sebring .

The Chrysler Stratus was only offered as a four-door sedan with a closed body in Europe . The vehicle was launched in the United States in 1995 as the Chrysler Cirrus ; With its JA platform , it was identical in construction to the Plymouth Breeze and Dodge Stratus models, except for equipment details . The Chrysler variant was named Stratus for sales in Europe and the Latin American market, which began in 1995. When it was introduced to the European market, the body design was largely the same as that of the Dodge Stratus for the North American market; only the brand emblems and lettering were those of the Chrysler brand. The bumpers of the Chrysler Stratus were largely taken over from its US counterpart Chrysler Cirrus . At the front with a special grille based on the design of the Dodge Stratus and painted in the vehicle color, at the rear an adapted version with a large ECE license plate recess, rear fog light and reflectors. The rigid exterior mirrors of the US version have been replaced by folding versions for the European market.
The technology and equipment of the wagons exported to Europe were adapted to the given legal requirements and the increased loads caused by higher speeds. The Stratus also received disc brakes as standard on the rear axle, a tighter adjustment of the shock absorbers, a transmission oil cooler in vehicles with automatic transmission, side indicators and the legally required headlight range adjustment. Although mechanically compatible, the headlights differ in some respects from the US version, including the US has headlights generally no headlight range control , parking light on two-thread indicator bulb, specific US-lamps, no asymmetrical passing beam and no e-registration . There are also differences in the factory-installed radios, for example the factory radios installed in the Chrysler Stratus, in contrast to the US factory radios, master the German channel grid (even and odd FM frequencies), RDS and display the time in a 24-hour system.
In a facelift in 1998, the Dodge Stratus modeled front grill was replaced by that of the Chrysler Cirrus, which was also renewed. It now wore a chrome-plated frame and the new Chrysler emblem embedded in chrome wings on the black grill. The trim strip taken over from the Dodge was omitted on the tailgate and was replaced by a Stratus logo corresponding to the Dodge, which was also renovated.
The interior of the Chrysler Stratus was based on the equipment variants of the Chrysler Cirrus, which were of higher quality compared to those of the Dodge Stratus and the Plymouth Breeze. The equipment line LE is equipped with fabric seats. For the LX with a 2.5-liter engine, a. Leather upholstery, wood imitation applications, CD changer available.

The Chrysler Stratus Cabriolet from Chrysler is considered the successor to the Chrysler LeBaron . Offered in Europe as the Stratus Cabriolet, the vehicle corresponds to the Chrysler Sebring Convertible sold in the USA.
The convertible was manufactured on a modified form of the JA platform (JX). In addition to a trunk with a volume of 300 liters, even with the top down, it offers space for four people. In 1999 the car received a facelift, recognizable by the larger radiator grille. The successor to the Stratus Cabriolet was then also named Sebring in Europe in 2001.
