history
Crespi d'Adda is considered a jewel of industrial archeology . Since the founding year 1878, Cristoforo Benigno Crespi , a member of a dye dynasty from Busto Arsizio, about 100 km to the west, had cotton products made here. The availability of hydropower was decisive for the choice of location “on the green field” . Following the English garden city idea and guided by other models from Germany and France - later under the direction of his son Silvio Benigno Crespi - a closed village with a factory, settlement, infrastructure including hot water supply, school was created with great design effort until the 1920s , Doctor, wash house , church built.
