Surname

The German name "Zarnefanz" is of Wendish origin and means "black snake". The name probably comes from the fact that centuries ago on the western bank of the Muglitz a mire overgrown with alders stretched like a snake for kilometers.

history

Zarnefanz is said to have been founded in the middle of the 15th century. The Vorwerk Hechthausen , which used to be an independent property of the von Hechthausen family , belonged to the estate and farming village . Zarnefanz once belonged to the President of the Court of Justice von Münchow , who bequeathed it to his son, District Administrator von Münchow. From this the property went to Charlotte von Ackermann nee von Münchow.

In 1800 Zarnefanz was sold to Hans von Winterfeld , who was followed by numerous changing owner families until the property came into the hands of the von der Lühe .

In 1939 the 1180.2 hectare community had 265 inhabitants in 67 households. In addition to the manor there were 15 larger and numerous smaller farms.

Zarnefanz belonged to the district of the registry office Lenzen and the district court area Belgard . The last German mayor was Richard Neitzel.

At the beginning of March 1945, Red Army troops penetrated Zarnefanz. The villagers were evicted . The place came into Polish hands with the name Czarnowęsy and is now part of the rural community ( gmina wiejska ) Białogard.

Zarnefanz Office

The communities Boissin , Naffin , Ristow and Zarnefanz formed the Zarnefanz district in the Belgard district (Persante) .

The Zarnefanzer church was a simple half-timbered building with a clapboard-roofed tower, which had to be demolished in 1960 due to dilapidation. The oldest church bell was cast in 1556. The furnishings included a brass baptismal bowl that the landlord of Hechthausen had given the church as a gift.
