Daniel Schlager (born December 8, 1989 in Rastatt ) is a German football referee . He is a member of FC Rastatt 04 . For the 2018/19 season he was nominated by the DFB as a referee for the Bundesliga.

Schlager was born in Rastatt. He completed an apprenticeship as a banker and is currently working at Sparkasse Rastatt-Gernsbach in the Gernsbach location in the real estate finance sector.

He whistles for FC Rastatt 04 in the South Baden Football Association . Schlager has been a DFB referee since 2015. He had his first professional appearance in the 2014/15 season in the 3rd football league , the first encounter that was under his direction in this division was on August 5, 2014 when SV Wehen Wiesbaden played against Borussia Dortmund II . He has been playing in the 2nd Bundesliga since the 2016/17 season , and made his debut on September 9, 2016 in the game between FC Erzgebirge Aue and Eintracht Braunschweig . In the 2016/17 season he was also used in the DFB Cup for the first time. He whistled the match between FC Viktoria Köln and 1. FC Nürnberg in the first main round on August 20, 2016.

On May 29, 2018, the DFB announced that Schlager, like Robert Schröder , will also lead games in the Bundesliga as a referee from the 2018/19 season . With him, after Michael Kempter , who last played in the Bundesliga in the 2009/10 season, after nine years a referee from southern Baden has again succeeded in advancing to the top German division. On September 16, 2018, Werder Bremen played against 1. FC Nürnberg (1: 1) for the first time in a game in the German House of Lords.
