Harm Osmers (born January 28, 1985 in Bremen ) is a German football referee from Hanover . He has been leading games in the Bundesliga since the 2016/17 season .

Career

Osmers started out as a soccer player with his home club SV Baden and passed his referee examination in 2001 in the youth class B. In 2009 he was appointed DFB referee as the first referee of the district of Verden ( Lower Saxony Football Association ) and in 2011 he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga . Since that season he has always worked as an assistant referee and fourth official in the Bundesliga. On July 15, 2015, he made his international debut in the Champions League qualifier Celtic Glasgow against UMF Stjarnan ( 2-0 ) as an assistant to Daniel Siebert . For the 2016/17 season Osmers became one of four new referees in the Bundesliga. His debut in the top German division was the match between SC Freiburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach on September 10, 2016.

On December 6, 2019, the DFB announced that Tobias Welz would voluntarily make his position as FIFA referee available at the end of 2019. The DFB nominated Osmers as his successor.

Osmers is full time Diploma - Business Administration and works as an R & D controller in his home in Hanover. He is not related to the former Bundesliga referee Hans-Joachim Osmers .
