David Turoň (born October 4, 1983 in Havířov , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player who has been under contract with SHC Fassa from the Italian A1 series since the end of June 2011 .
Career
David Turoň comes from the offspring of HC Havířov , for whose U18 and U20 juniors he was active in the respective junior extra league between 1999 and 2002. During the 2000/01 season he made his debut in the club's professional team, which was then playing in the Extraliga . The following season he completed a total of 14 games in the Extraliga and was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2002 by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fourth round as 122nd player.
As a result of the draft, he went to North America and played until 2003 for the Portland Winter Hawks in the Western Hockey League . Then he got his first professional contract from the St. John's Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League , the farm team of the Toronto Maple Leafs. However, Turoň was mainly used in the ECHL and Central Hockey League , including the Memphis RiverKings and Pensacola Ice Pilots . Before the 2005/06 season, the Toronto Marlies were the new partner team of the Maple Leafs and Turoň completed 24 AHL games for the Marlies.
In the summer of 2006 he received no new contract in North America and returned to Europe, where he was initially committed by HC Znojemští Orli . Via HC Slavia Prague and HC Olomouc , he came to MsHK Žilina in early November 2006 , with whom he finished last in the Slovak extra league. He was also used at the IIHF European Champions Cup 2007 , in which the MsHK took fourth place.
The 2007/08 season he spent at HK Aquacity ŠKP Poprad , for whom he scored 17 points in 58 games and with which he reached the playoff quarter-finals. After this success he returned to Žilina , where he completed over 100 games between 2008 and 2010, in which he reached 40 points scorer.
At the end of May 2010 Turoň received a two-year contract with HC Dukla Trenčín , for which, however, he only completed 25 games. At the end of November of the same year Turoň decided to move to Germany, where he was signed by the Lausitzer Füchsen . In the summer of 2011 he moved to SHC Fassa in the Italian A1 series .
International
David Turoň represented his native Czech Republic at two international tournaments, the U18 World Cup in 2001 and the U20 World Cup in 2003 . In 2001 the U18 team took fourth place, and in 2003 the U20 team came in sixth.
