The Götzentalbach flows through this in a north-westerly direction to the confluence with the Ron . 59.2% of the municipal area of 282 hectares is used for agriculture. The area of Rigistrasse from the intersection of Zentralstrasse to and with the bakery forms the unofficial village center. In this area there is a residential and commercial building with a restaurant, the church with the steeple, the parish hall with the post office, the bakery, the primary school, the kindergarten, the historic Dörfli and, until 2012, the post office.

population

The population increased sharply between 1798 and 1816 (1798–1816: +88.7%). By 1850 it sank significantly due to emigration (1816–1850: −16.9%). After a small increase until 1870, it fell massively until 1880 - only to increase again just as strongly in the following decade. The population fell until 1910, after which it rose again. Overall, the number of residents changed only insignificantly in the 150 years between 1820 and 1970. A steady population growth did not start until 1970, when Dierikon became the agglomeration of the city of Lucerne (1970–2010: +273.6%). In recent years, growth has slowed.

The population speaks a highly Alemannic dialect as everyday language. At the last census in 2000, 90.77% said German, 2.66% Serbo-Croatian and 1.33% Albanian as their main language.

Religions - denominations

The entire population used to belong to the Roman Catholic Church. This has changed as a result of leaving the church and immigration from other regions in Switzerland and abroad. Today (as of 2000) the religious landscape looks like this: There are 70.37% Roman Catholic, 13.14% Evangelical Reformed and 1.95% Orthodox Christians. In addition, there are 7.11% non-denominational and 4.22% Muslim. The Orthodox are Serbs and Montenegrins by origin. The construction of the Buchrain (-Dierikon) S-Bahn stop on the Zug – Lucerne railway line has made public transport more accessible . The S1 trains of the Lucerne S-Bahn (Sursee – Baar) stop here every half hour.

For people who live on the Dottenberg (especially on the upper Spechtenstrasse or the Oberdierikonerstrasse) near the border with Ebikon, we also recommend No. 26, the Lucerne transport company Ottigenbühl-Unterlöchli-Brüelstrasse.

The place is on the main connection from Lucerne to Zug. The Rontal connection, which was approved by the people in a vote on September 25, 2005 and opened on June 22, 2011, is intended to reduce traffic congestion in the village. It has replaced the Gisikon motorway junction on the A14 as the closest, even if it still exists.
