East Lake-Orient Park is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hillsborough County in the US state of Florida with a population of 22,753 (as of 2010).
geography
East Lake-Orient Park borders directly on Tampa to the west and forms an urban area with the city. Interstate 4 , US Highways 301 ( SR 43 ) and 92 ( SR 600 ) and Florida State Road 583 cross or touch the CDP .
history
The place was first connected to the railroad network at the former Orient stop by the South Florida Railroad in 1884.
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 22,753 inhabitants were distributed over 10,333 households. The population density was 2013.5 inh / km². 45.2% of the population identified themselves as whites, 43.8% as African American , 0.5% as Indians and 2.8% as Asian Americans . 4.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.7% to several ethnic groups. 17.2% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 38.4% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 16.5% of all households. 64.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.63 people and the average family size was 3.19 people.
30.7% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 30.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.3% were 40 to 59 years old, and 12.3% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 32 years. 48.0% of the population were male and 52.0% were female.
The median annual income was $ 41,103, with 21.0% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the first language of 89.61% of the population and Spanish was spoken by 10.39%.
