Mango is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hillsborough County in the US state of Florida with 11,313 residents (as of 2010).

geography

Mango is about 3 miles east of Tampa . Interstates 4 and 75 , US Highway 92 ( SR 600 ) and Florida State Road 574 cross or touch the CDP .

history

Mango was first connected to the railroad network by the South Florida Railroad in 1884.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 11,313 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 4,773 households. The population density was 950.7 inh / km². 71.3% of the population identified themselves as whites, 15.4% as African American , 0.8% as Indians and 1.5% as Asian Americans . 8.0% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.1% to several ethnic groups. 24.7% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .

In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 40.4% of all households and people aged 65 and over in 20.7% of all households. 67.3% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.72 people and the average family size was 3.18 people.

30.6% of the population were younger than 20 years, 30.0% were 20 to 39 years old, 25.4% were 40 to 59 years old, and 13.9% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 33 years. 48.3% of the population were male and 51.7% were female.

The median annual income was $ 37,123, with 27.8% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 92.89% of the population and Spanish was spoken by 7.11%.
