Seffner is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hillsborough County in the US state of Florida with 7579 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Seffner is located around 15 km east of Tampa . Interstate 4 and US Highway 92 ( SR 600 ) cross or touch the CDP .

history

Seffner was first connected to the railroad network by the South Florida Railroad in 1884.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 7579 inhabitants were distributed over 3020 households. The population density was 806.3 inh / km². 76.5% of the population identified themselves as whites, 13.2% as African American , 0.5% as Indians and 3.8% as Asian Americans . 3.2% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.7% to several ethnic groups. 15.9% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 21.4% of all households lived in 38.6% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 75.1% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.79 people and the average family size was 3.17 people.

28.3% of the population were younger than 20 years, 25.9% were 20 to 39 years old, 30.6% were 40 to 59 years old, and 15.1% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 37 years. 49.1% of the population were male and 50.9% were female.

The median annual income was $ 54,901, with 13.9% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 92.88% of the population, 6.26% spoke Spanish and 0.86% had another mother tongue.
