Sun City Center is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hillsborough County in the US state of Florida with 19,258 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Sun City Center is about 30 km south of Tampa . Interstate 75 , US Highway 301 ( SR 43 ) and Florida State Road 674 cross or touch the CDP .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 19,258 inhabitants were distributed among 13,909 households. The population density was 594.4 inh / km². 95.8% of the population identified themselves as whites , 2.0% as African-Americans , 0.1% as Indians and 0.9% as Asian Americans . 0.5% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 0.6% to several ethnic groups. 3.2% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 1.9% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 85.5% of all households. 52.5% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 1.63 people and the average family size was 2.11 people.

2.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 2.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 8.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 86.3% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 74 years. 42.5% of the population were male and 57.5% were female.

The median annual income was $ 43,807, with 6.3% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 94.32% of the population, 1.68% spoke Spanish and 4.00% had another mother tongue.
