Gibsonton is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hillsborough County in the US state of Florida with 14,234 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Gibsonton is located on Tampa Bay and about 10 km south of Tampa . The CDP is crossed or affected by the Tamiami Trail ( US 41 ) and Interstate 75 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 14,234 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 5,999 households. The population density was 427.4 inh / km². 72.8% of the population identified themselves as whites , 12.7% as African American , 0.6% as Indians and 1.8% as Asian Americans . 9.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.1% to several ethnic groups. 27.9% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 16.7% of all households lived in 44.6% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 71.1% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.97 people and the average family size was 3.38 people.

33.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 31.2% were 20 to 39 years old, 25.0% were 40 to 59 years old, and 11.0% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 31 years. 50.4% of the population were male and 49.6% were female.

The median annual income was $ 40,525, with 23.3% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 85.93% of the population and Spanish spoke 14.07%.
